It's good material, but I'm a little upset I didn't realize they have the exact same information (verbatim, in most cases) on their website for FREE. I definitely could have saved $17.http://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/single-member-llc
I thought this would be all about Single-Member LLCs. No. There was a bunch more information about everything EXCEPT single-member LLCs, and even the downloads were mostly not applicable. This all appears to be leading to the website where they will be happy to charge you to do this, with the warning that it may not be enough to avoid needing a local lawyer. I also expected that the recent tax law changes, which directly affect LLCs, would be incorporated on their web site, other than just being mentioned. No.Really disappointed in Nolo.
It's got some great information in it, I just wish it had more. Reading through the book was definitely informative, but it also caused me to have more questions about some of the more nuanced things in it. Questions that are difficult to find answers to. It should be longer and be a little more in depth.On a very positive note, though, it does have example forms and documents in it, so that's a good model to use if you want to use them.
Okay but not up to Bill standards. Too much C Corp focus and key subjects missing like what if you want to grow to a multi member LLC. What if it doesn't work - how to dismantle the company, any lingering customer contract issues, etc.
A fairly quick read with all the pertinent basic information plus an "Article of Operation" to use as a base for required legal paperwork. I recommend the book.
Excellent explanations and sources.
